Somewhere Else

You know how it is with the traveling type. We're never really anywhere for long.

Linking your asses off

Told you I would.

First, before we get to the mind-blowing awesome:

This was pretty interesting. It's strange because it reminds me how non-southern I am, even though I'm southern as far as the location of my upbringing is concerned. Also, it brings to light the point that we should probably just flood Texas and extend the ocean. Not to say that nothing good has come out of Texas, but it'd be really fun.

The Dildo Diaries

Second, you might want to sit down. I'm not sure you can handle this much awesome at once. Ready? Here we go.

Ed decided it'd be cool to record a bunch of songs in his bathroom and post them on youtube. And so he did. I won't tell you which songs, you'll just have to see.

My band is the best band in the history of awesome. Yeah.

Each word's a different song. Cause he's that awesome. If I weren't already a hard-core fan, I would be.

Third, these are pretty cool. You should check them out.

Ok, that's all.

Sorry.

Look who’s a bad blogger! I justify this by the blanket (cop-out) statement that I was very busy this past week. As in like, no breaks. Two midterms, four FRC events (five if you count the one tonight), a project, plus Jack duty, housing stuff, applications, and the overhanging cloud of not having solid plans for the summer. Incidentally, I hate all of you for not being able to just drop what you’re doing and travel with me this summer. Keep next summer open. You owe me.

Where to begin? Where did I end?

The Journalism midterm went ok, I think. I don’t really know because my test is lost right now. Since he doesn’t like us to use our social security numbers, he had us put our ID numbers on it. For some reason mine isn’t registering in the system, so I don’t have a grade yet.

Before that class, though, we had a guest speaker in my Animation class that made me want to work for Pixar. Last year, our RA had a speaker come in and tell us about five year plans and all that mess, essentially saying we should have one even if it was somewhat unrealistic. Pixar became part of my imaginary, five year plan.

Which brings us to Wednesday, in which I stalked the mother of a wayward E, and even though I’d just come to say hello, I am now somewhat fixated on the idea of working with the IRS. I also got a cool blue flashlight and a nice pen and some mints, as well as a whole bag of stuff to read, which sadly has been banished to the “stuff to read” pile. But man. It sounds like such a cool place. Also, if you’ve never gone to a high-profile career fair with wet hair, a (slightly offensive) t-shirt, dirty jeans, and a nametag that lists your major as something both artsy and impractical, I’d recommend it. No one bothers you.

Thursday was our speed-dating with the fellows event. The tricky part was, it was at 5:30, and Sheena doesn’t get back from class until 5:00, so set up was left to me for the first half hour. Also, I have Jack until 5:30 on Thursdays, so I had to watch him and set up at the same time. I ended up arguing with Diane about tables, which sucked but lead to a pretty nice decision to hold the event outside. We had a good turn out and it ended up being a pretty nice event.

Directly after that was a swing dancing lesson that I did not attend because I was wiped out and starving. After dinner, Sheena and I, with the help of Matt and John, two of the nicest men on the planet—I kid you not, cleaned up the fellows event. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, right…moving tables. Except that these tables weigh about 50 pounds each. They’re hard core little tables. And we had about forty chairs to get across the quad to myers, during the process of which, I banged the shit out of my shin. It’s just now getting to the bruising step—it’s been hurting steadily since I hit it. But anyway, we got everything cleaned up in time to watch TV and cram for my midterm.

Which I did surprisingly well on. Dr. Neupert is a grading machine and managed to get them all done over the weekend, so I found out my score yesterday. Not bad. And two of the questions I missed were just stupid errors I made.

Friday was also Semiformal, which I’d talk about except that there isn’t much to say. Except that sometimes you just have to step back and think, “Damn, I’m good.” And then think, “Whoa, I sounded like my dad just then.” But seriously…my idea to make the colorscheme blue, black, and silver and therefore all three colors that don’t clash with red (the color of the chairs and upper wall of the ballroom we’d rented) worked out really well. And there was fire. And balloons. And fancy cakes.

The best part about Semiformal was that no one came. Less than forty people, I think. So it was basically just my group, and our extended friends. Imagine getting to spend five hundred bucks on a party for you and your crew. Yeah. And then imagine getting to eat the left over food all weekend rather than go to the dining hall. Oh yeah.

After Semiformal things slowed down. Well, except for that night. That night we sang songs in the study room with the door locked and the lights out until nearly five. But after that things slowed down. And slowing down is nice. The whole week has been kind of uneventful. I’ll take what I can get. Tuesday we got to go use the telescope and I saw Saturn. I might have mentioned that already, but it’s been so long since I’ve started this that I can’t remember.

And that is why I have no real reason for not updating. Watch out tomorrow, I’m going to link your asses off.
