Somewhere Else

You know how it is with the traveling type. We're never really anywhere for long.

Appropriate title here

So first, the house. I decided to go look at it again and came to the conclusion that I liked it for $80,000 just fine, but for $90,000...meh. But we looked at some other houses that great, one of which I'm very interested in pursuing. The trouble is it's a foreclosure so I'd be buying it from the bank so I have to have a letter from a bank saying that they'll give me a mortgage. Cue aunt who is a mortgage broker and also very aware of my entire financial situation, soup to nuts. Cross your fingers guys--I should find out if these people will lend me money tomorrow.

I should have written that sooner but I've been honeymooning. Not in the marriage sense but in the TV-on-DVD sense...you know that phase where you start a series on DVD and plan to watch one episode and suddenly it's six in the morning and you promised you'd get up at quarter-till-eight to help your brother get on the bus. And there are things about the show that might have factored into you not watching it as a normal TV show but now that you have all the episodes you need to find out what happens. And even though you have other things to do, all you really want to do is watch more of your show. Daniel gave me Dexter and I've been a zombie for the past few days. In fact, I just finished watching two episodes back to back. In fact, I just put two more episodes on my flash drive and I'm about to go watch those on my laptop. At least there are only three seasons. I don't think I could go without sleep for much longer.

It's not that I don't trust my dog enough to let her sleep outside of the box. It's just that dad's socks are really expensive and I probably couldn't afford to replace them if she ate them.

House is still up in the air. Dog is doing so well we had to drug her to keep her from getting too rowdy. This, however, was probably the highlight of my day.

Update 1: LittleDog (who actually weighs 56 pounds) is back from the vet and doing well. She won't let me out of her sight which the guilty part of me attributes to the fact that the last time she did that they knocked her out and she woke up both in a cage and missing an organ. The logical part of me says that she probably knows she's supposed to follow me around now since she's almost always on a leash when she's inside.

Update 2: So the house thing went like this:

Listing price: 105,000
First offer: 70,000
First Counter: 100,000
Second Counter: 75,000
Third Counter: 97,000

This is where I was when I told you Monday about countering her counter-counter-counter offer. I wasn't sure if I should bluff and offer 75,000 again, raise a little more or just show my cards and say, "Look, this is what I can pay." I decided to offer 77,000, figuring she'd counter back at 95,000 and then I'd just tell it like it is.

She showed her cards. She can't take any less than $90,000. So I'm thinking about it. On one hand, that's about $50 a square foot, which is awesome for that area. And if I got a 30 year (fixed rate) mortgage at 6% with 5% down the payments would be right at $500 a month which would be really reasonable. But the yard is small and it needs some work and $90,000 is really more than I wanted to pay. But it's a really nice house. And I like that it has a basement. I don't know. Something to think about.

So that's the news. Oh also, my dentist sucks.

LittleDog is at the vet tonight. LittleDog has been at the vet since 8:30 this morning. LittleDog had not eaten since 10:00 last night. LittleDog did not have surgery until at least 6:00pm. LittleDog was anxious this morning. LittleDog spent the whole frickin day in a cage by herself freaked out and hungry. Vet said they would call when she was out of surgery. Vet did not call. Stupid lying vet.

I have turned into my mother. Stupid anxious mother. Stupid anxious me.

To keep you updated

My counter-counter offer was countered. So tomorrow I'll be countering her counter-counter-counter offer.
