Somewhere Else

You know how it is with the traveling type. We're never really anywhere for long.

I wanna ride your Scooter

Ok, so I'm going to post something about Portland. Yeah, remember? I wanted to wait and upload some of the pictures I took, but then I got busy and now things are better. Actually, not really better, but I'm getting around to things. Tomorrow will be specifically good because I'm going to be avoiding things, so I'll probably spend most of my time on the computer. But there's a pretty good chance most of that will be spent working on my current animation project.

But before I post about Portland (the pictures are uploading and I'm about to go to bed), I want to tell you about how awesome my Friday was.

It starts by finding out that I'll be head again next year, which is both good and bad but mostly good, I guess. So yay for me. But the rest is what I mean to talk about.

See, Guster was slotted to play in Macon which is only 2 hours away from UGA, and the tickets were just $15, so I figured I should go. But no one would go with me, not even the friends who never have anything to do, or Athens Andrew who has Guster listed on his facebook profile but had better things to do. So I figured I'd just spend the afternoon in lab and work on the Pantheon and feel sorry for my lame self.

But while I was in lab, I thought about how I went on the cruise alone and had a great time. And the more I thought about it, the more sense it made to go. So I decided that if I called the ticket office and they were still selling tickets that I would head down to Macon by my lonesome and see what sort of trouble I could find. I was on the road before I really knew what I was doing.

It was awesome. I met two cool Gusterroids at the front of the line, Keri and Cate who'd met at the previous night's concert in Savannah. They adopted me into their circle and we ended up with front-row center seats. The first band, The Format, was surprisingly good (no really, I'm totally digging their latest album right now), and then Guster totally rocked. I'd tell you about all the awesome but 1. you should have been there and 2. it's past my bed time and 3. you should have been there! Let's just say this: if I ever write a song, it's going to have a trumpet solo. Yeah baby.

But then afterward, all three of us ended up with set lists, and I caught a guitar pic. In fairness, I gave it to Keri, who was right there and is more of a Guster fan than I am (I think the Ladies will alway be the top of that list). After that, though, we waited outside and ended up meeting the guys! So I have a frickin signed setlist! And, since I'd picked up a copy of Joe's solo cd (I think it was Jim Creeggan who said it was his favorite), I got Joe to sign it. Which makes it that much cooler because it's such an awesome CD. Joe actually sat outside and talked to us while we waited for Ryan. It was awesome.

So yeah, Friday was great. And going to concerts alone isn't bad.

Ok, going to bed.

I'm so jealous. My Friday night was not nearly as cool or as fun. :( BUT, I get to see you soon (even though we're on the same campus...) for Emily's wedding!!! Can we do something soon, like maybe next week before the wedding? All my huge crap is due this week, so next week is better. Let me know. :)

Wow, man. WOW. And hey, if you guys are hanging out next week I wanna come. Bill and I are landing on the 6th. Monday we have a thing with the pastor (to convince him in the most delicate way possible NOT TO FUCK UP), Wednesday we're getting our hair did, but after that we're free. Until, you know, the knot. TYING THE KNOT. I hope ya'll remember your boyscouts...or is that just a sailing thing? Anyway, the point is not to suffocate, is what I'm saying. I don't know what I'm saying. Why the hell am I so nervous!?

Can't wait to see you. Seriously. I'm freaking out. I HAVE TO WEAR A PUFFY WHITE DRESS! I know, I know, I picked it out myself, and I love it...but, yeagghh.

Also, any thoughts on shoes? Anybody? Because I'm thinking gold lah-may (lame?) pumps. Yeah, that's right. PIMP.

Why Macon and not Atlanta? Are they doing an off-the-beaten-path tour? That's so cool, if they are.
What's Macon like, anyway? Were there alot of Guster fans who were actually from Macon at the concert?
Did they play "Dear Valentine"? I love that song. If not, what did they play?
